There was strong demand throughout the catalogue at Te Mania’s Northern sale at Walgett on Tuesday, with buyers chasing high intramuscular fat and growth traits.

The Victorian stud offered 105 bulls at auction and sold 102 to a $30,000 top to average $13,300. The remaining lots sold afterwards.

The top-priced bull, Te Mania Tanker T372, 892 kilograms, was purchased by online bidder Charlie Holcombe, Toobeah, Qld.

Te Mania Tanker T372, by Te Mania Quebec Q854 and out of Te Mania Lowan R1410, presented with high growth figures of +64, +112 and +162 for 200-, 400- and 600-day growth, respectively.

He also recorded +94 carcase weight and +3.3 birthweight.

The bull was the sole purchase for Mr Holcombe, who was a new buyer for the stud.
