We enjoyed hosting keen cattle breeders last Friday at “An Afternoon in the Yards” at the Te Mania Angus headquarters.
Ian Moreland and Fiona Glover from Southern Cross Genetics were on hand to explain the process of how we join our 1,600 cows, using the highly efficient system of Fixed Time Artificial Insemination (FTAI).
FTAI is becoming more widely used as technology has improved and cattle producers can inseminate all of their females on a single day at the same time.
The next “Afternoon in the Yards” will be in December. Jim Green will be structurally scoring our cows and will be discussing the importance of good cattle structure and its importance for your cattle herd. Stay tuned for more details closer to the time.
