The Team Te Mania Online Female sale attracted buyers from three states selling to a sale high of $1,870 at its annual sale on Tuesday, March 3rd.
The top price was paid for a line of 38 cows, 2½ years, PTIC to calve in Spring. It was part of an outstanding offering of 150 ACR-recorded 2012-drop cows which sold for an average of $1,830, from Susie Chisholm of Gwalia, Adelong, NSW.
Susie has been a Team Te Mania member since its 1995 inception and has built a strong following producing steers for the feedlot market while running a highly fertile and productive cow herd.
Other sale highlights included Evan and June Baillie of Glencoe, Forbes, NSW selling a line of 36 PTIC Heifers, 18-20 months, for $1,400.
Fiona Conroy and Cam Nicholson of Knewleave, Queenscliff, Vic sold 28-month cows with Autumn drop calves at foot, for $1,590.
Hamish McFarlane said “the vendors were happy with the strong result in a tight feed market for many parts of the country.”
Cattle sold into Mount Gambier and Casterton, through to Deniliquin and Goulburn, with the majority going to Victoria.
There were 51 buyers logged onto the AuctionsPlus-only sale and it was great to see the support of Team Te Mania members who are committed to this online sale, with some members planning joinings in their herds specifically for the sale.
It is also rewarding to see the recognition of the quality of the females in the market place, which was reflected in the increased demand. Some purchasers took the opportunity to replace older cows with higher performing new genetics from the sale.
The use of leading proven, and unproven, Te Mania Angus bulls through the Team program has resulted in significant improvements in growth, fertility and carcase quality characteristics throughout Team Te Mania herds.
