TONGA STATION - MARK AND LOUISE CALVERT-JONES

Tonga Station is 15 km south of Mansfield and home to a herd of 660 spring calving Angus cows.

Mark joined Team Te Mania in 2005 to access superior genetics through bull leasing, and to tap into the support and interaction between Team members and with the management at Te Mania Angus.

The breeding program at Tonga Station emphasises fertility, calving ease and growth.

Tonga Station aims to produce Feeder Steers to 400-450kg for a 240-day feedlot program.

Heifers are kept as replacements and the average age of the cow herd is six years.
