MICHAEL AND SALLIE CARROLL
VICTORIA - DERRINALLUM
Michael Carroll, a fourth generation cattle producer, is in the process of establishing a beef business just south of Derrinallum in western Victoria.
With interests off the farm the aim is to quickly establish an easy to manage operation around a herd that has good structure, growth and meat quality. The plan is for an August-September calving and turning off feeder steers at around 15 months. There will be a particularly strong focus on calving ease and maximising the number of steers that meet feedlot requirements.
Foundation females are coming from Habbies Howe, a Team Te Mania herd and two southern NSW herds.
In the lead up to the herd stabilising around 200 heifers have also been purchased from Moyne Falls, Pretty Tower, Yallock Estate, Glenesta and Lanng Springs.
With 20 years of experience in executive roles in agricultural businesses and now as a company director and advisor Mike brings some corporate experience to Team Te Mania.
