WARGOONA FARM - PETER AND ROSY BILLINGS

VICTORIA - WINCHELSEA SOUTH

Peter and Rosy Billings run Wargoona Farm, at the foothills of the Otway Ranges, at Winchelsea South.

The breeding herd is based on Te Mania Angus genetics, with females sourced from other Team Te Mania members and exclusively using Te Mania sires, since 1998.

With an emphasis on using the least amount of chemicals as possible, this 510 ha property is farmed in harmony with the environment.  It currently has a number of Landcare revegetation and erosion control projects underway or planned.

Besides breeding cattle, Wargoona Farm grows silage and hay crops, and produces a small amount of grain.

The cattle are cell grazed and handled regularly, practicing Low Stress Stockhandling,  ensuring the cattle are quiet and thrive in new environments.

Their goals are to breed higher marbling steers for the B3 $Index market, to meet feedlot entry weights earlier, and to develop a high quality self replacing female herd.

Peter and Rosy Billings enjoy the educational side of being members the Team Te Mania program.  They find using the latest genetics available from Te Mania Angus helps them to achieve their goals.

They currently run 200 breeding cows, and plan to increase to 400 breeders in the next 3 years, in a split calving pattern.
