The Knewleave herd produces steers for the B3 or CAAB markets, while at the same time running a highly fertile, docile female herd capable of producing under high stocking rates and commercial conditions.

The herd has used Te Mania Angus genetics through artificial insemination since 1995 and annually joins 150 females to elite Te Mania Angus bulls in an AI program each year.

The Knewleave herd is Breedplan recorded on the Angus Commercial Register, and is a Team Te Mania progeny test herd.

As part of the progeny test program, the Knewleave herd has used some of the leading Te Mania sires such as Ulong and Unlimited.

The use of leading Breedplan recorded bulls from Te Mania Angus has resulted in significant improvements in growth, fertility and carcass quality characteristics, and EBVs for calving ease. EMA and IMF in the herd are now above breed average.

Knewleave steers are regularly sold to Rangers Valley for the long fed Japanese B3 market and females are sold through the Team Te Mania female sales.
